The bag's features work perfectly for me. I'm able to carry my 600mm f/4 set up to shoot or collapse the bag and carry it in the storage position. The "fold flat" is great for air travel as it allows me to pack it in my checked luggage. If you "hike" to your shooting location, I'd suggest getting the harness and waist belt.
