I had seen similar wraps on a friends GT 3541LS Gitzo tripod and they looked to be just the thing. They provide thermal protection from the cold carbon fiber and add that layer of comfort when shouldering a big tripod with camera and lens attached. When it's cold outside it also nice to have the positive grip of the covers on an other wise slippery surface. Made specifically for the tripod it goes on easy and stays on without sliding around. Great product, I'd order from LensCoat again the entire process was perfect.
