The lens is already weather sealed. I purchased the lens coat to 1) disguise a very expensive lens 2) protect, the very expensive lens, from accidental damage.

The lens coat fits well & doesn't hamper the zoom or focus dial from working. The materials & build quality are very good.

I would definitely purchase another LensCoat.
