I have been using the LensCoat Hoodie since it first came out. I use it on a Canon 500 f/4 lens. I used to use a plastic lid but never liked that. The supplied Canon cover is totally impractical in the field. The Hoodie is just about the perfect solution. In a pinch I once used it as a knee pad and I got the photo. Easy on/off, fits snugly and doesn\'t bother the front glass. Buy this item, you will not regret it.
