The 200-500 is, for me, a very large lens to carry around. Without the LensCoat, I was constantly worried about bumping into things when carrying the lens on a shoulder strap. With the LensCoat installed, most of the lens is now protected against bumps and bruises. I highly recommend the LensCoat for this lens.
