It fulfills its function both to protect the lens and to attenuate the white design on the lens.

Fits perfectly and protects the 300mm 2.8 IS II. Great product !

For those of us who take our lenses into the field and hike with them... The lens coat is an absolute necessity maintaining the condition of the lens casing... I have carried a 300mm f 2.8 to the point that I have worn spots in my lens coat (2years of weekly hiking plus vacations).yet when I removed the coat for resale... The lens body was utterly pristine.... Amazing product!!!!
